PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female terminal fitting of which, a pair of elastic contact pieces are protected and prevents excessive displacement, disusing separate parts. SOLUTION: For a female terminal fitting 10 composed of a bottom wall 16 and a pair of side walls 17, 17 facing each other, a contact part 11 to be connected to a mate terminal is formed at one side. The contact part 11 has a pair of elastic contact pieces 14, 14 respectively extending from a pair of side walls 17, 17, and a side part protection plate part 25 integrally extended from the bottom wall 16 protecting side part of the elastic contact pieces 14, 14. Further, the female metal fitting has a top end protection plate part 27 integrally formed to the top end side of the side part protection plate part 25 covering the top end surface of the elastic contact pieces 14, 14, and an excessive displacement covering part 28 integrally extended from the top end protection plate part 27 covering the side surface of the elastic contact pieces 14, 14.
