<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape system, in which permanent records are prepared by archiving data and an archive medium is equipped with large capacity and throughput for processing transactions. SOLUTION: A write once read many (WORM) magnetic tape system 100 is provided with a tape cartridge 300 housing a length of magnetic tape 301 suitable for recording and storing electronic data and an electronic memory device 303, and a tape drive 11 for receiving the tape cartridge and reading the memory device, and the drive is operated only in the WORM mode corresponding to information read from the memory device.</p> |
