PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube which can surely eliminate damper shadow from a screen without removing a damper wire of a color-sorting electrode and without changing wire diameter or alignment of the damper wire. SOLUTION: A phosphor screen 3 with blackstripes 18 and phosphor layers 19 laterally arrayed one after another is fitted on the inside face of a face plate panel 2. On the face of the phosphor screen 3, a metal thin film 20 is formed reflecting light emitted from the phosphor screen 3 to the front of the face plate panel 2. At a position inside the face plate panel 2 opposite to the phosphor screen 3, a color-sorting electrode 7 is arranged with a damper wire 14 for vibration prevention stretched on the front face. The phosphor screen region where electron beams 6 are intervened by the damper wire 14 is covered with the metal thin film 20 and is to be hollow parts 21 with the phosphor layers 19 lacking.
