A personal digital assistant (PDA) recovers blood sugar data from a portable blood sugar analyzer through their local communications ports. The PDA also includes a network interface, transmitting the data to a health professional. It also exchanges messages between professional and patient. A consultation server stores the data and facilitates exchange of the messages.
