ORGANIC THIN FILM AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME AND OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To (1) provide an organic thin film having regularly lined up optical function areas of a submicron size an a method of manufacturing the same and to (2) provide an optical recording medium which permits recording and reproducing at the recording density exceeding the diffraction threshold of a pickup lens which cannot be embodied with the conventional optical recording medium. SOLUTION: 1) The organic thin film having a polymer possessing regular two-dimensional lattice-like patterns on a substrate and containing functional dyestuffs in the segments of the pores of the lattice. 2) The method of manufacturing the organic thin film comprising forming the lattice-like patterns by casting a hydrophobic organic solvent solution of a polymer on a substrate, then forming the film by further casting a functional dyestuff solution from above the same or forming the film by immersing the patterns together with the substrate into the functional dyestuff solution. 3) The optical recording medium using the organic thin film as a recording layer.
