摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which has excellent traveling durability, high coating film smoothness and electromagnetic conversion characteristics. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has an under layer containing magnetic powder or nonmagnetic powder and a binder and at least one magnetic layers containing ferromagnetic powder and a binder in this order on a nonmagnetic base. The binder contained in at least the described above under layer contains a polyurethane resin having a glass transition temperature ranging from 100 to 200 deg.C and the magnetic layer existing at the uppermost layer has surface projections of 10 to 20 nm in height at 5 to 1,000 pieces/100μm<2> on its surface.
