PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically press a press plate to paper money or release the press plate without using an actuator. SOLUTION: An automatic paper money pressing device for paper money storage device is constituted of a paper money storage device having a partition plate for demarcating the storage part of a paper money holding frame and a cover, the press plate arranged in the storage part, a 1st driving device for driving the press plate to the partition plate side, a 2nd driving device having driving power larger than that of the 1st driving device to drive the press plate so as to separate it from the partition plate and an invalidating device for validating or invalidating the 2nd driving device interlocking with the opening/ closing operation of the cover.
