PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission apparatus comprising hybrid optical amplifiers that can optimize the signal quality (OSNR (Optical Signal to Noise Ratio)). SOLUTION: The optical transmission apparatus is configured to comprise: a first optical amplifier 2 by which the quality of an output optical signal after amplification is changed with an amplification gain of amplifying an input optical signal; a second optical amplifier 3 by which the quality of an output optical signal after amplification is changed with an input level of the output optical signal from the first optical amplifier 2; and control means 41, 42, 371 applying optimizing control to the amplification gain of the first optical amplifier 2 so as to maximize the quality of the output optical signal from the second optical amplifier 3.
