PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline zinc battery superior in both of heavy load discharging characteristic and storage characteristic. SOLUTION: In this alkaline zinc battery 1 using a positive electrode mix 3 including β nickel oxyhydroxide as a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode mix 5 including zinc as a main negative electrode active material, and an alkali aqueous solution as an electrolyte, the positive electrode mix 3 is prepared by mixing β nickel oxyhydroxide, graphite powder and potassium hydroxide aqueous solution by a predetermined weight ratio. The β nickel oxyhydroxide is prepared by chemical oxidation, and the particles of spherical shape are used. A cumulative pore volume of particles of pore diameter of 0.5 μm or less is within a range of 10-60 μl/g. Whereby the alkaline zinc battery superior in both of heavy load discharging characteristic and storage characteristic can be manufactured. |
