摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake signal generating circuit and method for improving the braking power in an optical disc reproducing system. SOLUTION: The brake signal generating circuit includes a brake signal generating part 101, a first operation mode generating part 120, a second operation mode generating part 125, a third operation mode generating part 130, a fourth operation mode generating part 135, a fifth operation mode generating part 140, and a switch unit SW. The first operation mode generating part 120 generates a processing value of the grain and phase of a tracking error as a first operation mode signal TRDREG in response to a predetermined first control signal. The third operation mode generating part 130 generates a value obtained by multiplying the value of the first operation mode signal by a predetermined value K1 (K1 is a non-zero real number) as a third operation mode signal MSIG3. That is, the amount of braking is generated in accordance with the amount of error in a track deviation direction by inverting the amount of the error in the track deviation direction and multiplying the amount of the error by a gain factor.
