PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery hard to cause increase in internal resistance, lowering of discharging capacity, or the like even in repeated charging-discharging over a long period of time and excellent in cycle characteristics. SOLUTION: The lithium secondary battery has an electrode structure 1 formed by winding or laminating a positive electrode plate 2 obtained by coating a current collecting base plate for positive electrode with a positive electrode active material and a negative electrode plate 3 obtained by coating a current collecting base plate for negative electrode with a negative electrode active material through a separator 4 and uses an electrolytic solution containing a lithium compound as an electrolyte. An alkali metal salt such as lithium carbonate, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, lithium oxide, sodium oxide or potassium oxide and/or an alkaline earth metal salt such as calcium carbonate or calcium oxide are added in the amount of 1-6 mol and 0.5-3 mol, respectively, par mol of the electrolyte to the electrolytic solution. |
