PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gelling agent for a battery and an alkaline battery capable of improving a discharge characteristic, a service life, and the like of the battery while maintaining shock resistance and the like of the alkaline battery. SOLUTION: This gelling agent for the alkaline battery consists of a cross- linked polymer A, in which (meth)acrylic acid and/or its alkaline metal salt with 0.1-2,000 μm average grain are/is used as a constitutional unit, and an ultra-fine particle compound 1 with 0.1-100 nm average grain size, and the alkaline battery uses the gelling agent. |
