IMAGE FORMING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a method for controlling the same by which correction is possible so as to form a proper picture free from deviation even with respect to a cut sheet where lateral misalignment occurs. SOLUTION: The image forming device is provided with a sheet carrier part provided with a carrying path for carrying the cut sheet as an image forming medium; a sheet edge sensor having a sensor element where the edge of the cut sheet as the image forming medium is divided and arranged by each detectable part along a direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the cut sheet as the image forming medium in the carrying path of the sheet carrying part; an image forming part for forming a prescribed image on the cut sheet as the image forming medium carried by the sheet carrying part, and an image forming correction part which gives correction of image formation corresponding to the lateral misalignment of the cut sheet as the image forming medium based on a detection result from the sheet edge sensor in the case of forming a prescribed image on cut sheet as the image forming medium by the image forming part.
