PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power unit which is fitted to drive load, where the load current can change suddenly. SOLUTION: This switching power unit is equipped with a main circuit part 5, which has plural sets of switching circuits for converting DC voltage into AC voltage and plural sets of output circuits for generating DC output voltage by rectifying AC voltage generated by corresponding switching circuits, a control circuit 6 which controls the action of the main circuit part 5, and a load sudden change detecting circuit 7, which detects the sudden increase of the load current Io supplied by the main circuit part 5. The control circuit 6 synchronizes the actions of at least two sets out of the plural sets of switching circuits of the main circuit part, in answer to the load sudden change detecting circuit 7 having detected the sudden change of load. Hereby, sharp improvement of transient response becomes possible.
