PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device having a structure that prevents displacement in image transfer, thereby preventing occurrence of an image defect such as color slippage. SOLUTION: The transfer device composed so that images of different colors, rendered visible on corresponding latent image carriers 3, are sequentially transferred to a transfer body using a single belt 2 that passes through the latent image carriers 3, is characterized in that the belt 2 is stretched over at least a pair of rollers 2A and 2B, and provided with a drive roller 14 and an opposite roller 15 which face each other with an uncurved flat portion of the belt 2 between them as separate power sources and in which the drive roller 14 serves as a drive source separate from the rollers 2A and 2B and the opposite roller 15 serves as a followable pressing means.
