<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element improved in image quality by providing an organic electroluminescent element improved in contrast by reducing the reflectance to external light. SOLUTION: An optical compensation layer formed of a material capable of reducing the reflectance to external light is formed on each of the top layer for covering a top protective layer 136 and the organic electroluminescent diode part E of an upper light emitting organic electroluminescent element, whereby the reflectances of the top protective layer surface and the electrode surface of the organic electroluminescent diode located in positions for mainly reflecting the external light can be simultaneously reduced. The lower electrode of the organic electroluminescent diode is made of a light transmitting material to constitute a light shield film in the lower part of the lower electrode, or a different compensation layer is added to such a layer, whereby a high quality upper emission organic electroluminescent element improved in image quality characteristic is provided.</p> |
