PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct methanol fuel cell capable of contributing to increase in output and reduction in cost. SOLUTION: In an assembly formed by connecting a negative electrode 2 and a positive electrode 3 together via an electrolyte 1 constructed of a solid polymer film, a negative electrode side separator 4 having a manifold 41 for supplying fuel via a negative electrode side gasket 6 and a flow passage groove 42 for letting the fuel flow is arranged on the negative electrode 2, while a positive electrode side separator 5 having a manifold 51 for supplying an oxidant gas via a positive electrode side gasket 7 and a flow passage groove 52 for letting the oxidant gas flow is arranged on the positive electrode 3. Each of the negative electrode side gasket 6 and the positive electrode side gasket 7 is formed of a lamination body formed by layering a plurality of layers. In the negative electrode side gasket 6, a layer 61 on the electrolyte 1 side is formed of a rigid body, while a layer 62 on the negative electrode separator 4 side is formed of an elastic body. In the positive electrode side gasket 7, a layer 71 on the electrolyte 1 side is formed of a rigid body, while a layer 72 on the positive electrode separator 5 side is formed of an elastic body.
