PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal, by which even such a hand- or eye- handicapped user can easily make a call. SOLUTION: A pad is mounted on the rear surface of the portable terminal, so that when a user taps the pad, a shock detector 15 detects the tapping and outputs a pulse signal P to a musical sound generator 12. The musical sound generator 12, when it receives the pulse signal P, generates and outputs a drum sound signal. This causes a loudspeaker 13 to emit drumming sounds. The tapping detector 15 outputs data corresponding to a series of taps to a CPU 1. The CPU 1 reads a processing operation corresponding to the data from a RAM 3 and executes it. Thereby, the user can make a call only by hitting the pad.
