PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor which can avoid leakage of lubricating oil, and has high reliability and a information recording/reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: A shaft 60 has a support part 110, which is supported rotatably by the inner circumferential surface of a bearing 86 and a disc-shaped fall-out preventing part 120, which is formed integrally on one end of the support part 110 and prevents the shaft 60 from falling out of the bearing 86 by bringing it into tight contact with the end surface of the bearing 86. The fall-out preventing part 120 has a thrust-receiving surface 124, which is rotatably brought into tight contact with a thrust-receiving inner bottom surface 149 of a bearing holder 84. A through-hole 130 is made in the shaft 60, penetrating from the support part 110 of the shaft 60 through the thrust-receiving surface 124 of the fall-out preventing part 120. The through-hole 130 of the shaft 60 is closed by a sealing element 140, after the shaft 60 has been rotatably supported by the bearing 86 in the bearing holder 84.
