PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image data processor and a histogram display method for applying arithmetic processing to the entire area and a selected area of image data picked up by an imaging device to respectively display the results as separate histograms. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus of this invention, a microcomputer 16 calculates the histogram of the entire area of image data picked up by an imaging device 6, and the histogram of the image data of an area selected by an operation member 18 which is used to select a photometry mode, and identifiably displays these calculation results on an EVF 12 via circuits from a video signal processing circuit 10 via an EVF driving circuit.
