PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording method capable of performing high density recording of a signal with a satisfactory S/N by recording information while accurately performing tracking servo and also to provide an information recording method capable of performing high density recording with a perpendicular magnetic recording system. SOLUTION: A magnetic disk 10 is provided with a magnetic recording layer 16, and the magnetic recording layer 16 is preliminarily magnetized so that magnetization domains 16A and 16B with different magnetization directions may be formed. In recording information, high density recording is possible with a satisfactory S/N, because a magnetic head performs perpendicular magnetic recording while performing accurate tracking servo with optical tracking with a magneto-optical effect utilizing a difference in the magnetization directions between the magnetization domains 16A and 16B.
