A cutting method using a wire(20)having abrasive grains fixed thereto through a resin layer formed on the outer peripheral surface of a core,comprising the steps of preliminarily winding the wire having a surface coated with lubricating fluid containing glycol on a pair of reel bobbins(40a)and(40b),running the wire wound on the pair of reel bobbins between a plurality of rollers(10a)to(10c),and cutting a rare−earth alloy with the running wire while feeding first cooling fluid formed mainly of water to the portion of the rare−earth alloy cut by the wire,whereby the life of the wire can be prolonged when the rare−earth alloy is cut by a wire saw device by using the cooling fluid formed mainly of water.
