A reinforcing carrier for a flexible sealing, trimming, finishing or glass-guiding strip, for example, comprises two slotted blanks, such as made of metal, which are superimposed on each other, with one or more flexible longitudinal substantially inextensible members (28A,28B), such as made of wire, placed between them. The slotted blanks are then secured together to hold the longitudinal members (28A,28B) in predetermined positions, and the edge regions (26A,26B) are then broken off. In this way, the longitudinal members or wires (28A,28B) can be fixed in the required positions to achieve a desired location for the neutral bending axis of the finished carrier.
