Device comprises a printer with a print arrangement for zonal printing of the web with ink according to a print data record and ink zone adjustment means for adjustment of the ink amount in each zone. The device also comprises a proof unit for generating a proof image of the web based on the print data record, means for calculating a set of ink saturation values from the print data record for each zone and color and means for outputting the ink saturation values. An Independent claim is made for a method for zonal printing of a print web.
