A small input unit which can be operated using a large space and a portable apparatus comprising it. An operational input section is used by a user for input operation. Acoustic vibration is also transmitted. A coupling section is coupled with the operational input section to form a closed air gap between them. An acoustic vibration transmitting section formed contiguously to the closed gap transmits an acoustic vibration from any one of the operational input section and the acoustic vibration transmitting section to the other through the closed gap. The portable apparatus comprises the input unit and an acoustic vibration element. In the portable apparatus, the acoustic vibration element is coupled with the acoustic vibration transmitting section of the input unit. An acoustic vibration is transmitted from any one of the operational input section and the vibration element to the other through the closed gap of the input unit and the acoustic vibration transmitting section.
