A bonded magnet prepared by forming a mixture of a rare earth element(R) − iron(Fe) − nitrogen (N) based magnet material and a binder component into a desired magnet shape, characterized in that a R − Fe − N based magnet particle (11) constituting the magnet material has a surface nitrogen concentration in the region X<sb>1</sb>, wherein a depth from the surface is 100 nm or less, of 2 mass % or more. A bonded magnet comprising the above R − Fe − N magnet particle (11) is capable of exhibiting the high corrosion resistance being inherent in a R − Fe − N based magnet material.
