METHOD OF OBTAINING INDOLOCARBAZOLES USING BIOSYNTHETIC REBECCAMYCIN GENES

The invention relates to a method of obtaining indolocarbazoles using biosynthetic rebeccamycin genes. According to the invention, biosynthetic genes of rebeccamycin from Saccharothrix aerocolonigenes are used for the production of indolocarbazoles in related microorganisms (Streptomyces spp.). The inventive method consists in isolating a DNA fragment of Saccharothrix aerocolonigenes ATCC39243 which contains the cluster of biosynthetic rebeccamycin genes and expressing said genes in Streptomyces albus, thereby producing rebeccamycin and the derivatives thereof. The invention is suitable for use in the pharmaceutical field.
