Process comprises reducing the unsorted waste in a reducing unit, e.g. a cascade milling unit. One or more fractions are passed through the reducing unit and/or a subsequent mixer/reactor, along with a finely dispersed chemical drying agent. The pH value of the waste is increased to /- 10 during the process. The hot fraction of the chemical dying agent remains in the reaction mixture after the drying process. Process comprises reducing the unsorted waste in a reducing unit, e.g. a cascade milling unit. One or more fractions are passed through the reducing unit and/or a subsequent mixer / reactor, along with a finely dispersed, chemical drying agent. The pH value of the waste is increased to at least 10 during the process. The cascade mill is 5-15m in diameter and has a throughput of 10-30t/h. Before the drying agent is added, materials such as rubber, shoes, batteries, metal etc are separated out. The hot fraction of the chemical dying agent remains in the reaction mixture after the drying process.
