The method involves using a laser beam (16) whose laser source (12) is connected to a program control device (14) so that the laser beam is directed onto the surface of the generator or turbine component (18) to remove the surface impurities (24) without changing the properties of the basic material (20) of the component. Independent claim describes laser-blasted device for removing impurities whereby a control device causes the laser to emit a laser beam to remove the impurities. A computer system is connected to the control device and a detector next to the generator components monitors the laser discharge.
