Cosmetic or dermatological polyol-in-oil emulsions contain the following ingredients in addition to active compounds and other additives : (A) polyols; (B) salts with a positive heat of dissolution in water; (C) emulsifiers; and (D) lipophilic phases. Also included are Independent claims for (i) production of the emulsions by dissolving a salt with a positive water dissolution heat in a polyol and then mixing with an oil phase and emulsifier; and (ii) use of zinc chloride, zinc sulfate, aluminum sulfate hexahydrate, magnesium chloride or magnesium sulfate in compositions giving a warming effect on the skin.
