A dog, kept mainly indoors, has no opportunity for a sufficient shortening of his claws in a natural way by frequently walking or running along a rough surface. The new device is designed as a small boot (1) with a low shaft (2), made of a soft, but durable material. Each of the boots (1) has a non-slip sole (4) enabling the dog to walk safely across polished floors and is provided with an abrasive front area (5). This area (5) can either be of a rough textile material or coated with small granite particles. The boots (1) can be fastened with strips of Velcro (RTM).
