The products (P) are fed into a preparation unit (14) from a conveyor (10) via a tunnel (16) traversed by a single belt (18) under a refrigerant delivery device (19). The entrance (22) and exit (24) are opened and closed by sliding gates (22A,24A) operated by jacks (22B,24B). An e.g. programmable controller (42) is connected to the preparation unit by a data transmission line (44). It responds to signals from a temperature sensor (46) in the lower part (16B) of the tunnel, and to requests from the preparation unit for further supplies.
