The ventilation system for rail passenger carriages, and the like, has an air heater (1) and at least one main ventilation flow channel (3). At least one intermediate zone is between the air heater and the main flow channel, with air flows into it from the heater, and flows passing out into the channel. The intermediate zone has the largest possible volume, with a laminar flow into the main channel. The sealed intermediate zone is formed between the carriage roof hoops (2) and roof covering (4).
