A rear view mirror for vehicle, wherein a shaft (2) is installed on a mirror base (1) mounted on the outside of a vehicle (100) through an opening (4) in a mirror housing (3), the mirror housing (3) is supported on the mirror base (1) rotatably generally in horizontal direction and a clearance (a) is provided between the opposed faces (1a) and (3a) of the mirror base (1) and the mirror housing (3), a projected part (8) is provided on one of the opposed surfaces (1a) and (3a) of the mirror base (1) and the mirror housing (3) at least on the side facing the forward of the vehicle along the periphery of the shaft (2) and the tip (8a) of the projected part (8) maintains the state of non−contact with the other opposed face, whereby a cost can be reduced by using the mirror housing (8) also for the other types of vehicles, a defective rotation of the mirror housing (8) due to a dimensional error or assembly accuracy error can be eliminated, and wind noise can be prevented from occurring.
