The invention concerns an apparatus for amplifying frequencies of bass sounds of an audio signal. The bass components are sent to an adjustable amplifier. The comparator circuit compares the amplifier input and output signals. When the feed forward signal level is higher than the feedback signal level, the bass performance is reduced, otherwise it is increased. The oscillation peak values are reduced in time and frequency for flat loudspeakers.
