PURPOSE: A creep control apparatus of an automatic transmission and a method thereof are provided to improve stability and reliability by preventing a vehicle from being pulled back on the uphill road with compensating rpm of an engine according to the gradient. CONSTITUTION: A control unit decides the creep control by reading information on a vehicle in starting an engine(S101,S102). The gradient is detected by analyzing information from an atmospheric detecting unit through algorithm in controlling creep(S103). The elapsed time is read in accessing to the uphill road at creep control on the uphill road(S105). The correction value is extracted from the map table according to the gradient and the elapsed time, and the engine rpm is compensated by driving an injector(S106,S107). Traveling stability is improved with stabilizing the output torque of the engine by compensating the engine rpm according to the uphill road.
