PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion having high sensitivity and improved sensitivity in low illuminance exposure. SOLUTION: In the silver halide photographic emulsion, >=50% of the total projected area of all silver halide grains is occupied by flat platy grains having an aspect ratio of 10-100, >=50% by number of all the silver halide grains are flat platy grains each having >=30 dislocation lines in the fringe part and a compound having a function to inject two or more electrons in silver halide when photoexcited with one photon is contained.
