PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a copolyester containing a small amount of foreign matters, excellent in transparency and improved in electrostatic adhesion. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a copolyester which is mainly composed of one or several kinds of dicarboxylic acid components and several kinds of glycol components including 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and contains an alkali metal compound, an alkaline earth metal compound and a phosphorus compound, the ratio of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol component to the whole glycol component of the copolyester is 20-80 mole% and the alkali metal compound, the alkaline earth metal compound, and the phosphorus compound are added each in a specific amount to the reaction system when an acid value of an oligomer is 1,200 eq/10<6> g or less.
