PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin which is melt moldable while possessing a high Tg and, simultaneously, has good solubility and solubility stability to the conventional solvents, and is useful as not only a molded article and a fiber but also a coating material and an adhesive. SOLUTION: The polyester resin is constituted of a dicarboxylic acid component composed mainly of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and a glycol component, and the glycol component contains 50 to 100 mol% glycol having a tricyclodecane skeleton, and the polyester resin has an intrinsic viscosity of >=0.5 and a glass transition temperature of >=80 deg.C and, simultaneously, dissolves in an equi-mass mixed solvent of toluene and methyl ethyl ketone at 25 deg.C in an amount of >=20 mass%.
