PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for polymerization of propylene which catalyst can give an olefin polymer having a small amount of the low molecular weight component and a molecular weight distribution controlled to a relative wide range, particularly can produce efficiently a propylene-based polymer more excellent in the particular characteristics such as flowability, anti-blocking property, bulk density and so on, as compared with a case when using a metallocene solely. SOLUTION: The metallocene catalyst for the polymerization of propylene comprises the following components: component [A-1], component [A-2], component [B], and such component [C] as used according to need; component [A-1]: a transition metal compound expressed by general formula (1a), component [A-2]: a transition metal compound expressed by general formula (1a) ([A-1] and [A-2] are each a metallocene compound, being the same in the point of the centered transition metal, but different in the point of the stereospecificity at the ortho position to a substituted phenyl group), component [B]: an ion- exchangeable layered silicate, and component [C]: an organoaluminium compound.
