PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a residual sheet detector, a sheet loader and an image forming device with high reliability and where downsizing is implemented without the need for memory or a plurality of sensors. SOLUTION: The device is provided with a lifter plate 4 for lifting a sheet loading member up to a prescribed position by rotational movement in order to feed the uppermost sheet by a sheet feeding means at the prescribed position from among the sheets loaded onto a sheet loading member provided oscillatably, a sector gear 7 rotating in conjunction with the lifter plate 4 and detecting the absolute rotation angle of the lifter plate 4, a coupling 8, a rotation volume 9a, a board 9, and an arithmetic means for arithmetically calculating the residual amount of the sheets loaded onto the sheet loading member based on the detected rotation angle.
