PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical writing unit in which white steaks and black streaks can be eliminated from print results without remounting a light emitting array chip even upon occurrence of an error in the distance between light emitting elements arranged on different adjacent light emitting array chips. SOLUTION: A plurality of light emitting element array chips 2 of a light emitting array constituting an optical writing unit are mounted on a substrate 1 along with a focus element array. Emission of a plurality of light emitting elements 3 arranged, at a specified interval, in each light emitting diode array chip 2 is set such that the comparison results of characteristic value in the exposure intensity distribution of the light emitting elements 3 fall within a preset range. Emission of each light emitting element 3 is set such that the comparison results of a specified characteristic value for a light emitting element 3 in the vicinity of the end of each light emitting element array chip 2 are larger or smaller than the comparison results for other parts. |
