PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform maintenance work for a home elevator safely and easily. SOLUTION: A cage 13 of a home elevator includes a barrel wall 31 whose horizontal section is round. An entrance 35 is placed on the barrel wall 31. The barrel wall is constituted by a plurality of longitudinally split pieces 71 through 73. The pieces 71 through 73 have edges across the entrance and continues from one of the edges toward the other edge sequentially. Of the split pieces 71 through 73, at least the split piece 71 that is adjacent to the entrance can freely move, in the circumferential direction of the barrel wall 31, to the position at which it can cover the entrance 35.
