The invention concerns a piece of furniture whereof the underframe comprises a leg (18) and an intermediate part (19) extending laterally to the leg upper end. In the intermediate part (19) a rebating type slot (20) is arranged in the proximity of the leg in the upper edge and a second rebating slot (21) in the lower edge in the proximity of the end opposite to leg. The underframe elements (18, 19) are made of rigid structured material, moulded and/or accurately cut out. The rebating assembly (20, 21) with two-way fitting ensures the underframe stability. The board is maintained centred by the flanges (22).
