PURPOSE: A system for providing an information service during a phone call is provided to allow a user to receive desired information during a phone call without causing additional call duration. CONSTITUTION: A phone set(20) separates voice and character information. An exchange(23) detects and remove a DTMF tone transmitted from the phone set(20). A subscriber information managing server(21) manages information of a user using an information service between the phone set(20) and the exchange(23). An information service database and information providing server(22) connected to the exchange(23) manages and provides information service to an information service subscriber. An exchange provides voice information to the exchange(23). An information service selector(20a) changes a content of information service during a phone call, a voice/character separator(20d) separates a voice and a character. A voice communication unit(20b) provides the voice. A character display unit(20c) displays a character. A DTMF tone detecting/removing unit(23a) detects a DTMF tone and/or prevents providing the DTMF tone to an opposite side. A character inserting unit(23b) converts information to be provided to the information service subscriber to a frequency signal, and inserts information into a voice channel and transmits the voice channel to a phone if no voice information is received from the exchange.
