PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance representability by making it possible to bore a hole corresponding to one heating element in a thermal plate making apparatus where heaters, each comprising two heating elements, arranged in array on a thermal head are thermally controlled depending on monochromatic image information including black or white information of each pixel. SOLUTION: In the area 50 of black element having black information, (previous) non-auxiliary heating information specifying a heating element on the non-boring side is imparted along with the black information. In order to accelerate temperature rise of a heater corresponding to the area 50, auxiliary heating weak enough not to bore a hole is performed for a heater corresponding to the area 48 of white pixel having white information. Auxiliary heating is not performed in an area 47. Since the temperature of a heating element on the side of area 48 of the area 50 rises sufficiently but the temperature of a heating element on the side of area 47 does not rise sufficiently, a hole corresponding to one heating element can be bored in an original stencil sheet as shown in an area 50', and thin longitudinal lines can be printed.
