The machine has a base (1), an upper crossbeam (9), and a rigid U-section frame (2, 3, 4), with integral guides (13, 14) for a travelling table (10) driven by rams (18, 19), and a control system mounted on the crossbeam. The workpiece holding device is attached to the horizontal upper and/or rear vertical faces of the table. The ramrods (16, 17) are symmetrically located on either side of the table, and are co-planar with the cutting axis (15). For external work, the broach (8) mounted in a toolholder (6) attached to a massive mounting plate (7) on the back wall (5) of the frame. For internal work, the upper end of the broach is fixed to carrier which runs on the guides, and the lower end is attached to the base. The broach can be rotated. |
