A method of protecting police, security or other vehicles and their occupants from attack, tampering or theft, where there is direct bodily contact with the vehicle, uses a generator 4 which provides electric or electromagnetic potentials to deter attackers. Corona effects, non-lethal electric shock, and/or RF burns may be inflicted. A proximity detector 1 actuates generator 4 which is connected to the vehicle frame, chassis or dedicated covering 7. Generator 4 may be controlled by a feedback path 5. Earth connection 6 may be improved by a ground spike, conductive fluid, or a conductive skirt. Different parts of the vehicle, such as door handles, may be electrified at different potentials. |
