PURPOSE: A method for removing ammonia nitrogen (NH4-N) using newberyite (MgHPO4·3H2O), a method for regenerating newberyite and a method for preparing an ammonium fertilizer using gaseous or liquid ammonia generated during the regeneration of the newberyite are provided. CONSTITUTION: In a method for removing ammonia nitrogen (NH4-N) using newberyite (MgHPO4·3H2O), the method is characterized in that at least one coagulant selected from the group consisting of alum, polyaluminum chloride, polyaluminum chloride silicate, FeCl3, Fe2(SO4)3, Ca(OH)2, CaO, silica coagulant and polymer coagulant is additionally used; 5 to 20 wt.% of magnesium compounds selected from the group consisting of MgCl2, MgSO4·7H2O, MgO, and Mg(OH) is additionally used; and 1 to 20 wt.% of phosphorus compounds selected from the group consisting of KH2PO4, K2HPO4, NaH2PO4·nH2O, Na2HPO4·nH2O is additionally used.
