PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a slide barrier, which has a slide barrier mechanism as a camera easy to operate. SOLUTION: The camera with a slide barrier is provided with a slide barrier 27 which is arranged in the front part of a camera main body 40 and is freely slid between a close position for covering a photographic lens 11 and an open position for evacuating from the front of the photographic lens, a first detection means 30 which detects that the slide barrier has been manually operated from the close position toward the open position, and an operation power adjustment means (slide barrier pressing mechanism 104) which increases the power (operation power) required for operation of the slide barrier to enhance the slidability when the slide barrier is in the close position and reduces the power required for operation of the slide barrier to reduce the slidability in the case that the slide barrier being in the close position is operated toward the open position to output a detection signal of the first detection means.
